Marina Giertz, LLMSW
LLMSW: PSYCHOTHERAPIST
I am a therapist who will help you decode your child’s behaviors, tune into the messages behind their meltdowns, and feel more confident responding to what they can’t yet say out loud.
My work is rooted in the understanding that babies and young children communicate through their behaviors long before they have words—and that responsive, nurturing relationships in the early years lay the foundation for lifelong emotional health. I support caregivers in learning how to read their child’s cues, understand what the behavior is trying to express, and build secure connection during this deeply formative time.
I also provide specialized support during pregnancy and postpartum, helping parents navigate the emotional shifts, identity changes, and tender challenges that come with welcoming a new baby. Whether you’re preparing for your little one’s arrival or adjusting to life after birth, my goal is to help you feel grounded, confident, and connected as you move through this transition.
Through an attachment-based, relationship-focused lens, I offer developmental guidance, play-based engagement, emotional regulation support, and a space for caregivers to feel seen and understood. Whether your child is navigating big feelings or you’re moving through the complexities of the perinatal period, we’ll work collaboratively to build insight, strengthen your bond, and support healthy emotional development from the very beginning.
*I specialize in supporting infants and young children (0–6), the parent–child relationship, emotional and behavioral needs, developmental concerns, and pre/postnatal emotional wellness.
About Me
I love helping caregivers feel empowered, grounded, and supported during this incredibly important stage.
I earned my master’s degree in social work from Wayne State University, with a dual title in Infant Mental Health. I’m passionate about helping caregivers understand their child’s behavior, strengthen connection, and nurture emotional development during the earliest years of life. With additional training in perinatal mental health through Postpartum Support International, I support parents through pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, and the transition into early parenthood.
When I’m not working with families, you’ll often find me spending time with my husband, snuggling my two very spoiled kitties, or baking something sweet in the kitchen. I love creating small moments of warmth and comfort—and I bring that same steadiness and gentleness into my work with families.
